Winning Streak!

Your UAlbany Great Danes woke up this morning with a number in the Win column!

Logan Aronhalt obliterated FDU with 27 points on Saturday night (UAlbany Athletics)

What is that you say? FDU is awful? I can’t hear you. This young team needed a shot of confidence more than just about anything and a 26 point road-mauling of a team that hung with Stony Brook earlier in the week is just what the doctor ordered. Especially for Logan Aronhalt. After some despondent post-game quotes about his shooting, it’s great to see him find a groove. 9-16 FG, 3-6 3PT, and my personal favorite, 6-7 FT. Add in 10 boards, 5 offensive,  2 assists, a steal and block, you have a mighty fine state line. The Great Danes are going to need continued big games from Logan if they expect to post more wins.

Kudos to Will Brown for sticking to his rotation. He did not panicking after horrific shooting games and throw Billy Allen out there and even dropping Moore out of the rotation for this last game. You can see some chemistry starting to form with Timmy and Logan on the court; that should pay off dividends come the AE schedule.

32 Minutes for Blake Metcalf: Metcalf has had trouble staying on the floor this year, so a full performance from him is a huge boon for UAlbany. He has the physicality, size and desire to bang with people inside. No one expects much from Blake offensively, but ironically, of all the bigs, he might be able to provide the most on the offensive end. He keeps so many balls alive on the offensive glass that allow his teammates to get extra scoring opportunities.

And, of course, a shout out to Jacob Iati– 36 minutes and only 1 turnover at the point along with 3-6 from downtown.

Enjoy the winning feeling! A tough game against a very talented and hungry Iona team is on deck.
