UAlbany Basketball Blog: Things We’re Thankful For

Thankfully, Logan has been buckets from deep the last two games (UAlbany Athletics)

This is going to be a short post.

1) Logan Aronhalt has found his shooting touch. In the last two games, Logan has scored 52 points on 18-33 shooting (54.5%)

2) Gerardo Suero. This incoming recruit is too good to be true and I’m convinced Murphy’s law is going to derail this all somehow (I’m not going to be the one to jinx him).

3) Backup Point Guard. The positive spin on the Mike Black injury. We know that for the five minutes a game that Black is not on the floor, we will have a steady and hardworking option in Jacob Iati.

4) Tim Ambrose. American might have pitched a shutout if not for Ambrose’s scoring ability. I doubt we’ll ever see someone suit up for UA with more pure athleticism. His patented move, drive to the hoop, hang suspended in the air and kiss it off the glass is a thing of beauty. If UAlbany puts together a nice America East conference schedule, his legacy completely changes.

5) UAlbany is a mid-major: OOC wins are great, but in the long run these loses can all be forgotten. UAlbany is not costing itself anything- there is no NCAA at-large bid resting on these games. If Black returns and does well, we can all laugh and look fondly back at those few weeks 0f extended pre-season where Iati and Watts got a chance to get their feet wet.
