Colgate by the Numbers

It is worth checking out StatSheet’s comically formulaic recaps of UAlbany games; there are some great stats mixed in there. Take a look at the Albany Game Notes from Stat Sheet:

The Great Danes have won 4 close games this season (a win by 5 or less points).
Since 2005, Albany has won 26 close games.Albany has won 83% of the time this season (5-1) after holding an opponent to under 23.8% three point percentage.
The last time Albany had a field goal percentage of 53.8% or higher was Dec 08, 2009 against Pennsylvania.
Albany set season lows for three pointers and rebounds. The Great Danes have recorded more free throws made than their opponents for the past 5 games.

UAlbany barely escaped Colgate, but it was actually the best Great Dane team shooting performance in over a year. The Danes were clearly the better team, but were beaten on the glass by a hungry Raiders’ squad and were almost unseated by a solid game by the much maligned Mitch Rolls as well as a career night by Joe Hoban.

Surprisingly both teams played above average offensive games (105 to 102 ORtg), but that was mostly because of the inordinate about of foul shots taken by both teams (30 and 27).
